Seattle Locksport and LockPicking was founded as a meetup group in 2013 for folks in the Seattle area who are interested in learning more about lockpicking, competitive lock opening, and physical security. What started as a once-a-month meetup in Seattle has grown to include monthly meetups on the east side and Tacoma, as well as workshops and "lockpick villages" at a number of local conferences and events.
Over the years we've held our meetups at a variety of locations: Ada's Technical Books, Harry's. Flying Bike Brewery, Black Lodge Research, and our current homes: Fremont Brewing Seattle (1st Tuesdays), Church Cantina Tacoma (2nd Tuesdays), and NW Brewing Redmond (3rd Tuesdays).
We've been happy to host lockpicking talks, demonstrations, and hands-on villages at a variety of local conferences. These have included:
BSides Seattle
HushCon, Seattle
BlueHat, Redmond
BSides Portland
DEATHCon, Tacoma
LayerOne, Los Angeles
PAX West, Seattle
We've also spoken at other events, including ThinkCyber week, the Left Coast Crime 2024 mystery novel conference, Red Team Association meetup, Highline College's Women in Cyber Security meetup, DEF CON, NW Hacker Camp-out, LockCon, LockFest, and more.
Seattle Locksport has been featured in the news several times.
We were excited to the feature story in the Seattle Times' Northwest section on Sunday, January 26th, 2025. In 2016, Cascade PBS ran a story as well.
